Who Needs A Spa Day When You Have DIY Body & Face Scrub
As a busy mom it seems I rarely have time to pamper myself. Between my full-time job, a clingy preschooler, and taking care household needs, I can barely get two minutes to myself to shower. A full on spa day is just a dream not reality. Fortunately I have found a quick and easy DIY solution to get super soft, moisturized skin. This DIY body and face scrub is simple to make at home and inexpensive.
DIY Body Scrub
Only two ingredients are required, coconut oil and plain white sugar. Any brand will do, but I prefer organic coconut oil and usually the least expensive sugar I can find. These mixed together at approximately 1:1 ratio make the ultimate skin treatment. This mixture will exfoliate and moisturize your skin leaving it smooth and soft. The mixture doesn’t have to be exact, you can mix to your liking. I tend to like a bit more sugar than coconut oil because I like a coarse scrub to really exfoliate my skin. Once you whip up your DIY body scrub, you can save it in any resealable container. I keep mine in the shower and use it after my body wash so I don’t wash off the moisture of the oil. I tend to use the body scrub 3-4 times a week. Because the sugar is so coarse this scrub is best used for body, not face.
DIY Face Scrub
Just as the first DIY scrub mixture, you will need coconut oil and either baking soda or brown sugar. The ratio is about 1:1 but mix to a consistency of your liking. Both baking soda and brown sugar are fine granules that make for a gentle exfoliating scrub. Gently rub mixture onto clean, dry face and work the oil into your skin. Rinse with warm water and pat dry. You can use the face scrub 2-3 times per week but use your best judgement to decide how often you should exfoliate.
